KIN-BALL® Sport
Overview
What
is KIN-BALL® Sport ?
KIN-BALL®
Sport is a relatively new sport. The objective of the game
is to serve a large 4 ft. ball to an opposing team so the
members will not be able to catch the ball before it touches
the ground. On the defensive end, the objective is to receive
the ball before it hits the ground.
History
KIN-BALL® Sport
began in 1986 in Quebec, Canada, when Mario Demers invented
it as a way for P.E. teachers to meet the needs of their
education programs. The unique sport emphasizes teamwork,
cooperation, sportsmanship, and good health.
Since
then, the sport has grown internationally and is played
by about four million people in sixteen countries worldwide.
There is currently an international tournament every other
year, and KIN-BALL® Sport has potential to become an Olympic event.
PSU
is one of only a few active teams in the United States and
represented the U.S. in the international tournament in
2002. PSU hopes to get funding to represent the U.S. in
another tournament in the near future.
